Using spot lights
Spot light emits light from a specific location towards a specified direction in the shape of a cone.
Spot lights work only with the materials that support spot lights in the shaders. In Kanzi these material types in <KanziInstallation>/Studio/Asset Library/MaterialTypes/General support two spot lights by default:
- PhongCube
- PhongTextured
- PhongTexturedCube
- PhongTexturedCubeNormalMap
- PhongTexturedNormalMap
- PhongTexturedShadowMap
- PhongTexturedSkinned
If you want to use more than two spot lights, you have to modify the shaders. See Editing shaders.
Creating spot lights
To create a spot light:
- In the Project right-click the scene where you want to create a spot light and select Create > Spot Light.
- Name the light and click OK.
Setting spot lights
The following are the most commonly used properties for setting a spot light:
- Color to set the color values of the light
- Attenuation properties to control the effect of the light on the objects that are farther away from the light
- Cutoff to set angle of light cone
- Exponent to set how the fully-lit area turns into a non-lit area
- Translation and Rotation properties to set the distance of the light from objects, and location and direction from which the point light emits light
